We appreciate the support and feedback on Prop 742. Here's a revised version of the proposal.
We plan to focus on setting up Nouns Amigos as a legally recognized organization. We believe this will strengthen its role as an extension of Nouns, enabling it to become a positive force in Latin America. While our heart and activities will remain on-chain, establishing a legal entity opens opportunities to raise additional funds to support the community and expand Nouns in Spanish.
We want to keep boosting the community and making an impact in LatAm. We want to see more projects that promote the use of Ethereum, change the perception of crypto, and use Nouns' art and code. Nouns can help make a difference in a grassroots movement driven by Nouns Amigos in the Spanish-speaking world.
To achieve this, we plan to run a grants program that will be fine-tuned to maximize positive impact and shape it to attract new donors in the region. The program aims to continue building on Nouns with an adaptive approach, refining Nouns Amigos' mission, strengthening accountability measures, and maximizing the use of funds. The community would vote on grants on a prop-by-prop basis, with the AMIGO token, expecting to fund 15 to 20 proposals.
Our mission to drive impact in Latin America through Nouns and crypto remains our north star, guiding us as we fund and build—with an initial focus on using Nouns as the gateway to Ethereum literacy and adoption.
We will continue establishing Nouns Amigos as an open, thriving community and ensuring it's the best place for all things Nouns in Spanish. This includes setting up a legal organization, running the grants program, continuing with accountability measures, creating resources like websites and guides, enhancing communications, experimenting with physical/digital products of Nouns Amigos as a brand, and finding new ways to engage with builders and seek alternative funding sources.
Nouns Amigos is the Nouns community in Spanish. We are a group of builders on a mission to expand the reach of Nouns, fostering a nounish mindset among creators, enabling a building environment in one's language across Latin America and beyond since June 2022.
Over the past year, thanks to proposal 468, we boosted the community through rounds, contests, and grants. We grew as a builders community, evolving from small, contained proof of concepts (Prop House rounds) into more substantial and impactful ideas (Nouns Amigos Grants). We ran 6 Prop House rounds, 33 Farcaster rounds, 3 contests in Uplink, and the first season of Nouns Amigos Grants with 20 approved proposals in Snapshot.
After seeing different projects arise in Prop House and Rounds, we narrowed the grants program to three main categories: art, public goods, and technology. The result was a series of more focused projects. To name a few:
Our public spaces, including weekly calls averaging 30 participants and a Farcaster channel with +1.8K followers, have provided a platform for sharing and debating ideas and proposals. This has strengthened the community and enabled collaboration between builders.
Using the Amigo token, the community votes on grants on a prop-by-prop basis. Ownership through AMIGO tokens, which are earned based on proof of work, has deepened engagement and encouraged a more critical mindset while voting.
Accountability measures introduced in Amigo Grants, such as retroactive funding and Nouns Amigos Gardeners validating proposal milestones, have helped ensure resources are used effectively.
Becoming Nouns delegates enriched our community’s understanding of governance and reinforced our connection to Nouns, the same understanding that enabled us to make better decisions when voting on Amigos' grant proposals.
The Nouns Amigos community is a consistent group of quality builders pushing Nouns forward every day in Latam. A committed base of contributors consistently participates in Amigos' weekly Rounds and Discord calls, votes on proposals in Snapshot, and takes part in Nouns governance as delegates. You can follow the community’s activity on Instagram, X, and Farcaster.
