I would like to host a ⌐◨-◨ side event for 40-50 people at ETHDenver on Friday, February 28 – Haus of Nouns.
Think of Haus of Nouns as a very, very, very small - much smaller version of Nouns Town. It's just a Haus. An event where we come together and have enough space to bring friends and new contacts from ETHDenver, to connect, BD and introduce them to Nouns.
When I submitted the candidate, I also added a link to a lu.ma event page to gauge interest.
As of Jan 31, 48 people rsvp'd for the event.
While the event is only 4 weeks out, consider the details WIP.
During daytime, we focus on local impact - read more below.
In the evening, we come together to celebrate and connect.
Starting with the evening programming:
I'm a firm believer that when ⌐◨-◨ meet up in a city, we should "leave the place better than we found it". More on this line of thinking here.
Since the event is coming up very soon, I haven't had time to confirm exactly what we'll do. Here is the list of ideas I started. I will reach out and coordinate, if this proposal passes.
Generally these are all considered 3rd places which are perfectly fitting for us to leave a mark and do good for the public.
With the help of local Nouners, I'm aiming to identify places where the curious are searching for new thoughts, inspiration and things to explore - like Nouns.
Promoting Nouns by creating a space for Nouns during ETHDenver and creating local impact where it matters most.
Venue – 1000 USD
2 Artist's commissions – 2500 USD
Live Music Performance – 2000 USD
Mini Merch Customization Station + graphics – 2000 USD
Food + Beverages (no alc) for 50 PAX – 6000 USDC (50PAX x 120 USD)
Local Impact – 4000 USD
Content Creator – 1500 USD
Intl. Travel Expenses Latsko – 4000 USD
Compensation Latsko – 4000 USD
Misc – 500 USD

Total Budget: 27.5k USD

Re F&B: 120USD per person is a cost estimate for a seated dinner / private dining. Depending on venue and capacities, this budget line item is subject to change - e.g. a catered buffet for 50 people or simply booking tables in a restaurant with a fixed menu is more cost efficient. The main dependency of this line item is the venue.
Re Local Impact: This budget was chosen based on the 'entertainment' budget for the evening. My line of thinking was that if we spend approximately 4k on entertainment in the evening, we should allocate an equal amount to bettering a 3rd place for local impact.

I deeply appreciate everyone's support and trust.
However, after carefully assessing the currently available (side!!) event calendar at ETHDenver (https://lu.ma/ethdenver) and sheeets.xyz – I don't think this is the best use of funds and I'm therefore canceling this proposal.
For context, there's already 30+ side events scheduled for Friday evening and the event is still 3+ weeks out.
Thanks again! I hope we'll open the doors to the Haus of Nouns at another event.

I wasnt fully sold on this at first but realized the bull case here is recreating the magic of Secret Walls Nounstown but for more of a nouns-outsider audience. Thats an exciting proposition and Benjamin is the perfect person to run the experiment.
Bold statement perhaps but it wouldnt surprise me if this converted some amount of EthDenver participants into auction winners.
having a dedicated time & place for nouners to hang out with eachother and the broader eco is priceless, and there's nobody better than benjamin to make it happen.
hope there's space for nounish projects to showcase what they've been working on too; that was my fav part of Nouns Town and I think would be the best bang for buck.
I totally see the value of a nounish side event at ETH Denver and understand how impactful it could be given the audience. I also think the DAO should support certain types of member gatherings, especially with the "leave the place better than we found it" vision, which I truly admire.
That said, while costs can vary depending on location, conditions, and scope, 27.5k still feels a bit high for a one-day event. I appreciate Ben’s proactivity in stepping up to organize this, and even though this proposal is likely to pass, I think it’s important to flag some uncertainties.

The proposal could benefit from additional details on certain actions. For instance, placing Noggles in a local skatepark may have unintended consequences. Additionally, the budget appears somewhat imbalanced in terms of costs versus compensation. That said, I recognize that ETH Denver attracts a relevant audience, and the proposer demonstrates good intentions and a thoughtful approach to engagement. Given these considerations, I will abstain from voting.
