TLDR:
We are organizing a Hacker House event in Bangkok from November 6-12, 2024, to be held one week prior to the Ethereum Devcon conference. This exclusive event will take place in a residency, providing a creative and collaborative space for developers, builders, and innovators from around the world. The event is designed to influence the creation of new dApps, tools, and protocols that create positive impact. We aim to also promote the CC0 concept by initiating open-source art and music experiences, along with bounties and tracks in this subject, at technical events and hackathons, positioning Nouns DAO as a symbol.

Project: Chaotic Goods

Welcome to Chaotic Goods — a radical departure from conventional tech philanthropy, driven by the ethos of chaotic good and the spirit of the cypherpunk movement. We are not here to fund public goods; we are here to support chaotic goods—disruptive, decentralized, and boundary-pushing technologies that challenge the status quo and empower individuals over institutions.

Mission:

Our mission is to ignite and sustain a global network of developers, hackers, and tech visionaries who are building the future of open-source, privacy-first, and decentralized technologies. These are the tools and platforms that defy centralization, resist censorship, and prioritize individual freedom over corporate or governmental control. We are committed to funding the projects that mainstream investors shy away from—the projects that are too bold, too rebellious, and too chaotic for the conventional tech world.

Hackathon Tracks:

  • Privacy-Centric Tools:
    • Encryption and anonymization technologies that empower individuals to communicate, transact, and organize outside the reach of surveillance and control.
  • Decentralized Systems:
    • Platforms that eliminate the need for trusted third parties, enabling peer-to-peer interactions that are resilient, self-sustaining, and censorship-resistant.
  • Open-Source Hardware & Software:
    • Software that pushes the boundaries of what’s possible. Projects that embody the principles of transparency, user control, and hackability, giving power back to the users who own them.
  • Open-Source Art (CC0):
    • Artistic creations that are released into the public domain under Creative Commons Zero (CC0), fostering a culture of shared creativity and collaboration. We support artists who believe in the free exchange of ideas and the power of open art to inspire and connect communities.
  • Consumer Apps:
    • Applications designed for everyday use that prioritize user privacy, decentralization, and empowerment. We support the development of consumer apps that bring the benefits of chaotic good technology into the hands of individuals, making complex tools accessible and useful for the general public.
  • Decentralized Finance (DeFi):
    • Financial platforms and protocols that operate on decentralized networks, providing open and permissionless access to financial services. We support projects that are breaking down barriers in the financial industry, creating tools for lending, borrowing, trading, and investing that are transparent, secure, and free from traditional financial gatekeepers.
  • Game Theory and Mechanism Design:
    • Exploration of game theory principles to design systems and protocols that incentivize desired behaviors. We support projects that utilize game theory to enhance security, fairness, and efficiency in distributed systems, pushing innovation in both theoretical and practical applications.
  • Gaming and Interactive Experiences:
    • Development of open-source games and culture. We support projects that leverage blockchain technology, NFTs, and decentralized networks to create gaming experiences that are player-owned, community-driven, and resistant to censorship, ensuring that the gaming world is as open and chaotic as the real world.

Why Chaotic Good?

Chaotic good is about challenging power structures and creating systems that work for the many, not the few. It’s about recognizing that real change often comes from the fringes, from the mavericks who dare to break the rules and rewrite them in the process. The Hacker House aims to provide resources for those who see the world not as it is, but as it could be—and have the skills and passion to make that vision a reality.

How It Works:

  • Hacker House:
    • We host physical and virtual residencies where selected hackers and developers can collaborate, experiment, and build their projects with the support of our network of mentors and resources.
  • Funding Chaotic Good:
    • Through grants, donations, and decentralized funding models, we provide the financial backing that allows chaotic good projects to thrive without the constraints of traditional venture capital.
  • Community-Driven Governance:
    • Inspired by the principles of decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), our funding and decision-making processes are driven by the community itself, ensuring that the power to shape the future of technology is in the hands of those who build it.

Join the Movement:

Chaotic Goods is more than just a hacker funding protocol—it’s a movement. It’s a call to all those who believe in the power of technology to disrupt, decentralize, and democratize. Whether you’re a coder, a cryptographer, an artist, or just someone who believes in the cause, we invite you to join us in shaping the future—one chaotic good project at a time.

Justification and Benefits for Nouns DAO:

  • Increased Visibility: The Hacker House will prominently feature Nouns branding, ensuring that every participant and visitor engages with the Nouns brand. This event offers a unique opportunity for Nouns DAO to gain visibility within the Ethereum community, especially among developers and influencers.
  • Nouns-Inspired Projects: By sponsoring this event, Nouns DAO will directly influence the development of Nouns-themed projects, including potential new dApps, tools, or protocols that could be integrated into the Nouns ecosystem. This aligns with our collective goal of expanding the utility and reach of Nouns.
  • Community Engagement: The event will serve as a gathering point for Nouns holders and supporters, fostering stronger community bonds and collaboration. The presence of key community members at Devcon will further amplify Nouns DAO’s voice within the broader Ethereum ecosystem.
  • Long-Term Impact: The connections made and projects initiated during this event will have lasting impacts, potentially leading to further collaborations and innovations that benefit both the Nouns DAO and the wider Ethereum community.
