General idea here pretty interesting imo. Could focus on the Nouns Scholarship route and call the initiative that. At $600 USDC for one semester, Nouns could sponsor a huge amount here and have big impact, seems a novel bridge between irl and DAO.
I like the 'Build with Nouns' stuff too and Final Project, but if someone is already on a Nouns Scholarship then perhaps they would want to build with Nouns anyway and focus their projects in this direction (they could also put up candidate props at the DAO for funding requests). Maybe more Nounish to just offer scholarships and let people take it where they want.
Also says 8 team members but can't clearly tell who these 8 people are, or what they're doing.
In general though, this feels Nounish to me.
I'm less interested in spending $109K USDC to reach 20 students and more interested in the creation of a syllabus and teaching materials to make this a repeatable program by anyone in the world. To me the core deliverable should be CC0 materials for others to run their own course. This first cohort is just the experiment and proof point that its valuable to run these kind of workshops.
Also is there any plan to sustainability here? Is this a one of course? Would you want to run it again next semester? Will that cost $100K for another 20 students?
I also don't like the name Nouns University as its not a University but a non-accredited course for university students.
There is a version of this Prop I would Vote for but it would have a bigger vision of creating this and then exporting it so that Nouns courses can be taught all around the world (and a reasonable plan to get there)
i want to vote for this and was reading the proposal looking for the thing that would make seal the deal for me but it just wasn't there.
i agree with @ccarella that focusing on building a curriculum that can be distributed and used widely by other universities would make this spend more worthwhile. totally makes sense to prototype it locally, but would like to see a version where there's a vision to take this beyond these two schools.
We can claim students are highly curious and eager to engage all we want but have we seen any engagement? The beauty of nouns is that anyone can participate. Have we seen any new folks in nouns that have come in via nouns bali week? We should be measuring these things rather than continuing to pour money in.
Best case for proposals like these is that we get a whole new set of folks onboarded into nouns. I don't think events are the best mechanism for accomplishing that.

Nouncil has decided in favor of Prop 549: Nouns University, with 18 votes for and 12 against, reflecting a somewhat split decision. Supporters are enthusiastic about the potential to offer scholarships, education, and opportunities for students to build Nounish projects, viewing it as a valuable way to spread Nouns' mission and values through academia. Opponents, however, expressed concerns about the lack of formal agreements with universities, which they felt added unnecessary risk. Despite these reservations, the majority believe that the initiative has significant potential to foster innovation and engagement among students.

imwylin | "the only reason i’m voting against is because there is no MOU in place with the universities. if the universities were already onboard, this would be a definitive yes from me. it’s a totally different experiment and the planned activities + scholarships are awesome. the uncertainty of not having the universities onboard makes it too high-risk. even if they aren’t formal MOUs as legal documents, getting at least written confirmation from university administrators that they are interested would change my vote to a yes"
benbodhi | "I really want to vote yes for this, but I think it needs some adjustments. I'd love to see an online video series (even if that was filmed with the students here). I'd love to see a scalable and self sustainable model of this. And tend to agree with the naming of nouns university feeling a bit off right now."

Ccarella nailed it.
I think it's too much money for the description of the goals. I don't see any long lasting sustainable end goals for running these at the universities at the mentioned locations. It should be just for any students who is interested in learning about Nouns.
Also, 8 months is way too long for an educational project that aims to spart interests.
It could be a virtual thing for any universities students who might be interested in that, and they could join any other IRL Nouns event.
Unless from the description, it sounds like it wants the students to organize local chapter social activities, which any other Noun enthusiasts could get involved and organize.
I think there are some interesting ideas in here but I'd like to see a smaller pilot first rather than funding 8 moths off the bat. Although Bali Nouns week may be posed as the trial run, I feel like there needs to be an MVP of this particular approach. A smaller activation (maybe on semester) would be a better approach.

The beauty of Nouns is the fact that it's co-created and radically participatory. The fact that anyone can vote without even holding Nouns and have their votes show up alongside holders and delegates is incredible. It's unstructured because we all give it structure.
Picking 20 people in a structured way feels off, compared to to the radical participatory nature of Nouns itself. Would rather see funds like this used in a far more open way.
While I like the spirit of the proposal, it doesn't feel very scalable, and I agree on most comments about the name 'Nouns University'.
While I would be interested in seeing Nouns grants/fellowships for students, this doesn't feel like the right implementation.

My hesitation is around calling the program Nouns University when it is not an accredited University, the first thought that comes to mind is Trump University (they got sued for misrepresentation) Also would like to see the entity created ahead of time and also confirmation from the schools / universities that they are willing to move forward if the proposal is passed.

In the beginning of the year 2024, the Bali Nouns Week 2024 was successfully held. During the pre-event activities, Nouns were introduced to over 600 students from four visited universities. Detailed explanations were provided regarding what Nouns is and initial steps to contribute to the Nouns community. The feedback received from this activity was highly positive. The question and answer sessions were enthusiastically utilized by participants to delve deeper into topics such as cryptocurrency, blockchain, and Nouns.
The peak event of the Bali Nouns Week 2024 took place at the Superlative Gallery from the 1st to the 3rd of March, with a vibrant atmosphere. In the grand final session of the prop house contest, three students out of ten participants advanced to the grand-final. They were students who became acquainted with Nouns through socialization activities at universities. Additionally, a costume contest was held in collaboration with students from the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Denpasar, resulting in four masterpieces exhibited at the Superlative Gallery for three days.
The last day concluded with the Nouns Conference, featuring nine speakers divided into three sessions. Each session received attention and positive responses from participants. Over 50 students attended to listen to speakers who provided explanations in line with the theme. The students appeared eager to attend and listen to the presentations until the end. Here is one of the interviews with students regarding the Bali Nouns Week 2024 event!
Check out all the recaps from Bali Nouns Week, Day One, Day Two and Day Three!
After conducting the pre-event and main event, we performed a targeted analysis focusing on university students. The results are as follows:
The Nouns University Project is a pilot project aimed at bringing Nouns into the university realm with a primary focus on students. The main objective of this project is to introduce and involve many students in the Nouns ecosystem. Within this framework, students will be provided with education and knowledge about Nouns. The project also provides scholarships to support university education expenses. Each scholarship recipient will be granted funding to develop their own Nounish project. Furthermore, scholarship recipients at each university will organize community social activities. Finally, there will be an offline bootcamp to present the final results of their projects and collaborate on a Final Nounish Project. The entire project will span over 8 months.
This pilot project will offer opportunities to 20 nounswardees at two universities. In this initial stage, we have selected two target universities: Hasanuddin University and State University of Makassar. We chose these two universities because they are located close to our team. In addition, they are two of the best universities on the island of Sulawesi. Finally, we will focus on targeting nounswardee students from faculties that have a direct influence on Nouns, namely: Faculty of Art and Design and Faculty of Engineering
The selection process will be divided into two stages: document selection, which includes participants' experiences, followed by online interview selection. The selection committee will have three people, two from the Nouns University Team and one from Nouns Builder Indonesia. This selection stage will prioritize students who have demonstrated academic/non-academic achievements and active involvement in organizational leadership activities. The expected output of this Nouns University project is to position Nounswardees as "Campus Ambassadors" within their respective educational backgrounds. In supporting the nounswardees as campus ambassadors, we will provide exclusive merchandise to 20 selected nounswardees and 10 other merchandise packages will be sold as limited edition.
As an initial step to introduce a project, it is necessary to conduct outreach to the target market. In this case, the target market for the Nouns University project is university students. Therefore, the first activity to be undertaken is a University Tour. This activity is planned to be held at two universities: Hasanuddin University and State University of Makassar. The event will feature a talk show that discusses a general introduction to Nouns and the benefits of joining Nouns University. Additionally, to attract participants, various mini-games with door prizes will also be organized. The next goal to be achieved from the University Tour is the establishment of an MOU for cooperation with the universities. Furthermore, the MOU will serve as a foundation to strengthen the outreach to students, as it provides a mutually agreed-upon set of regulations to support Nouns University.
After completing the selection process and choosing 20 nounswardees who are eligible to join Nouns University, educational activities related to crypto, blockchain, NFTs, and Nouns will be conducted. These activities will take place every two weeks over a continuous six-month period. Each session will feature guest speakers who are experts in their respective fields. The sessions will be conducted online for 10 meetings and offline for 2 meetings. Offline sessions are chosen to facilitate better material delivery and to provide face-to-face learning opportunities with all awardees. This educational initiative is crucial as it serves as a platform to introduce the awardees to Nouns. It will also provide an introduction and overview of the knowledge that can be used to explore the Nouns ecosystem. Here we provide an overview of the materials and lecturers that we will provide to the nounswardees for 6 months.
Here is the curriculum plan that we will implement at Nouns University 2024!
Data from the Central Bureau of Statistics in 2023 indicates that the Gross Enrollment Ratio (GER) for higher education in Indonesia reaches 31.45 percent. This shows that only approximately 31.45 percent of the population aged 18-22 years pursue higher education. Many students feel that the cost of education is very high, leading them to decide to discontinue their studies. This situation underpins the desire to provide educational assistance through the Nouns Scholarship program. In awarding this scholarship, we will form an official foundation chaired by 0xishal and then register legal entity legality as a bridge between Nouns DAO and scholarship recipients. The assistance to be provided will be in the form of Single Tuition Fee payments amounting to $600 USDC for one semester. Disbursement of this funding will be provided twice, in the first month of receipt and the following three months. The goal of the assistance provided by Nouns is to alleviate tuition costs so that students do not have to worry about the expenses related to university education for at least one semester. Additionally, this form of assistance can also serve as motivation for the nounswardees to be more enthusiastic in pursuing their studies.
Parallel with the educational activities for the awardees, the "Build with Nouns" program will also be implemented. In this program, the 20 selected nounswardees will receive funding of $1,000 USDC. Disbursement of this funding will be provided twice, in the first month of receipt and the following three months. All awardees will develop a project aimed at promoting Nouns in accordance with their field of study. As a requirement, awardees must submit a project proposal when registering. In the first month, there will be a screening of innovations and suggestions will be provided for the project plans. Subsequently, the awardees will implement their projects over the next five months. Monthly control in the form of advice and corrections on the project progress will be conducted. The output of this program is to provide a platform for the awardees to integrate the knowledge they have acquired during their studies with the creative freedom of CC0 NFT Nouns.
To support one of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, which is community service, we will be organizing a program aimed at serving the community through Nouns. The implementation of this program will take place at each university, so that awardees from the same university will collaborate. To support the implementation of these activities, each university will be provided with funding amounting to $1,200 USDC. This funding will be provided for two disbursements and will be used entirely to create programs that have a direct impact on the community, such as activities in orphanages, environmental clean-ups, teaching in community learning centers, or other social activities. This program is crucial for shaping the character of Nouns awardees into individuals who are compassionate towards others, and to instill a spirit of dedication to serving the community.
After the awardees have received education, completed individual projects, and collaborated with other awardees for social activities, the final program is the implementation of the Offline Bootcamp held for 2 days in Makassar, Indonesia. This activity marks the culmination of the Nouns University program. After undergoing education for 6 months, all 20 nounswardees will gather at a predetermined location. The series of activities in this program includes a final lecture session by the Founder of Nouns University and sessions with other competent panelists. Subsequently, there will be presentation sessions by all nounswardees regarding their individual projects, presentations from universities, and presentations of the final project designs previously prepared. On the last day, there will be outbound activities to strengthen the bonding among all Nounswardees.
Final project in Nouns University is to collaboratively create a project and submit it to Nouns DAO. Therefore, upon graduation from this program, the awardees are required to develop a design, starting from selecting the type of project to be created, conducting an analysis of the project's impact on Nouns, to budgeting and implementing it. Subsequently, the awardees will promote their project designs in candidate proposals. During the closing session, the top 3 Nounswardees who will receive a total coaching fund of $2500 USDC will be announced. The assessment of the best awardees will be conducted throughout the learning period, covering activity, innovation, discipline, teamwork, leadership, and the benefits of the individual projects undertaken.
We created this Roadmap, Timeline and Delivery by considering all the possibilities and capabilities that our Team is capable of. The details are as follows!
We are requesting $109,670 USDC to cover the Nouns University for 8 months of work.

This project will be chaired by 0xishal who has been contributing builders to the Nouns DAO since 2021. Starting from small proposals like Nouns Holidays, Nouns Education and Entertainment and Lil Nouns Trans Bag. Then successfully became Co-Director of Three Bronouns until finally ventured to become a Director of Prop 483: Bali Nouns Week 2024.
In the implementation of Bali Nouns Week we worked with 3 freelancers who greatly contributed to the success of the event. Now we will also bring those 3 freelancers into our team. Armed with this experience, we are committed to continuing the success of Bali Nouns Week into Nouns University. Ups and downs, unyielding spirit, hard work, everything we will devote entirely to build this Nouns University into a place of scholarship, education and helping students to contribute to Nouns DAO.

Respecfully
