Nouns Esports wants to host 3 premier Smash Events in 2024.
Super Smash Brothers Melee is one of the world's most popular fighting games. With locals all around the country, Smash Melee's decentralized nature and resilient history make it the perfect game to help Nouns become a legacy brand within esports.
Like Nouns, Melee esports is entirely community-driven, with no single leader.
Each event is unique in scope:
Last year's Tipped Off 14 became the first tournament to secure sponsorship from Nouns Esports, facilitated through their Prop House proposal.
Celebrating its 15th iteration, Tipped Off 15 is emerging as one of the year's few Super Majors, distinguished by a stacked competition field that elevates it to one of the most prestigious events.
Tipped Off will be providing the following deliverables:
Noggles front-and-center in front of 30,000+ concurrent spectators (estimate based on the last event with 45k viewers).
Broadcast GFX and in-person brand integration ⌐◨-◨.
Commercials advertising NounsFest Showcase and Nounsvitational.
Nouns Esport merchandise booth with a large spectrum of products, featuring Nounish brands such as Bigshot Toyworks, Precious Plastic, Nouns Coffee, and more.
Bring fans onchain with the Nouns Badge that will provide perks to event attendees.
Nouns Esports is hosting a side event at the Nouns Coffee Shop during NounsFest. This event will feature 10 players competing in 5 anticipated show matches. 8 of the players will be invited with the final 2 being decided by the Nouns Esports community on the new nouns.gg voting client.
We are planning a mid-day event but we will adjust our schedule to complement the overall NounsFest program. We've been in discussion with the Nouns Coffee Shop team regarding the timing of their opening, if the venue is unavailable we will consider alternative locations or returning USDC to the DAO.
The Nounsvitational, in collaboration with Station 3 (a web3 coworking space in Manhattan), will feature 16 of the world's most popular Super Smash Bros. players. The event aims to combine high-level competitive Smash with premium content and community engagement. This competition is set to be the highlight and conclusion of the 2024 Smash calendar.
To further elevate the event, we plan to have Toady Hawk as the show's host. Toady will be interviewing players and ensuring smooth transitions throughout the event's schedule. He will amplify the Nounish experience for viewers, both online and in person.
By using Start.gg fans will be able to purchase merchandise designed by a variety of artists that will enable them to vote for their favorite players to be invited to the event. Additionally, voting points can be obtained through the purchase of event tickets.
A major focus of the Nounsvitational will be a charity fundraiser for Gamer's Outreach, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit specializing in creating GO Karts. These portable video game kiosks allow hospital staff to offer bedside entertainment to children who are unable to leave their rooms.
Gamer's Outreach aims to donate 500 GO Karts to hospitals across the globe in 2024. With every $3500 raised, we can fund the creation of one new GO Kart. We propose that Nouns begins the event with a $3500 donation to kickstart the fundraiser.
This year, we've successfully brought many Smash players and enthusiasts onchain through Prop House. From now until December, we will conduct four distinct voting rounds on nouns.gg engaging our community to shape the future of Nouns Esports:
We'll be leveraging Nouns Esports' current full-time staff to support this proposal, but the successful execution of these events requires partnering with key members of the Smash community for production. Nouns Esports will provide marketing materials, manage Prop House rounds, design merchandise, and create content. Ohan (event director of Tipped Off) and his team will concentrate on executing the event.
