DCS is a pod that focuses on bridging the gap between existing off-chain funding options and larger on-chain props. Focused primarily on the sectors of software, arts and IRL with a funding range between 8-25Ξ, our goal is to help builders with a track record scale up within the Nouns ecosystem.
There currently exists a large gap within the current Nouns funding landscape that creates challenges for Nounish builders in the ecosystem.
On the lower end of the spectrum, there are many options for builders to seek funding for <10Ξ, between NSFW, Prop House, and a number of subDAO efforts (Gnars, SharkDAO, Lil Nouns, etc). On the higher end, there is virtually no limit as we have seen on-chain props go to $1M and beyond.
However, in between these two points there is a gap that continues to grow as we see NSFW, Prop House, and subDAOs prefering to run more experiments with smaller amounts, all the while prominent Nouners are increasingly calling for the DAO to scale upward and not consider on-chain props lower than 20Ξ.
This places builders in a tough spot where they must figure out how to take their concept from point A to point B to achieve escape velocity. This issue is further exacerbated by the closure of the official Nouns Discord server, which will make it harder for the DAO to reach consensus on on-chain props as a governing body.
DCS will focus on working with these builders who have "graduated" from one of the off-chain funding programs and provide them with bridge funding and guidance as they work towards the goal of passing a larger scale on-chain prop with the broader DAO base.
Said a different way, we help builders Do Cool Sh*t.
DCS pod members will leverage their Nounish network and experience to guide and work with builders to ensure their further success in the DAO. DCS will act as a working group to ensure our funded builders are provided more than just capital but an active group to collaborate with and build alongside.
The pod plays a key role in four ways:
What areas will the pod focus on?
DCS will focus on key areas where we feel we can provide the most value and help ideas scale quickly. Given the subject matter expertise and experience of pod members, the following areas are our initial focus:
Software - dApps, smart contracts, mobile apps, gaming
Arts & Content - artists, musicians, video and content creators
IRL - local/regional activations, events, and other on-the-ground efforts
How will the group operate?
We will work with the operators of the various off-chain funding program to raise visibility for DCS as a "next step" for graduates. We will use Prop House and/or AddressBoard to receive formal funding requests, so we can ensure proper data collection throughout the process for the DAO.
The pod will convene once a week on an open call to discuss what has been submitted since the last meeting and to discuss additional pipeline developments. These calls will be available to the community. This will foster discussion about props, help engage with builders and elevate the quality of props that get funded. Emphasis will be placed on data-driven processes to ensure greater builder accountability and proper measurement of ROI back to the DAO.
After discussion, pod members will decide which props will be funded by voting on a dedicated Discord channel (or via Prop House platform).
Pod members are required to attend weekly meetings and actively give feedback on props. Pod members can be removed and replaced based on participation (which will be decided by the remaining members of the pod). Pod members will be rotated every 3-6 months in order to spread knowledge, boost decentralization and to ensure the pod is not overly reliant on any single member. A maximum of 2 pod members will be substituted at a time, not to create disruption in the work flow. One pod member will be elected secretary by the pod, and this person will take care of administrative tasks including providing a summary of the meeting in writing, which will be available to the public through the DCS discord.
The committee’s gnosis safe will require 3 of 5 members to sign.

If at the end of the 3-month period not enough good props were found and funded, the funds will be returned to the Nouns DAO treasury. If the props funded were to be successful, leading to cool apps/tools/community building/engagement, we would ask for the continuation of the work through extended funding (granted by a new on-chain prop).
